To my main scientific interests belong: adaptation of Polish law to the standards of the European Union, protection of the European environment, protection of human rights, law of international organizations and diplomatic law. Besides, I have been involved systematic scientific cooperation with numerous international centres (mostly British law faculties) which has lead to the participation in many conferences and resulted in joint publications. MEMBERSHIP OF SCIENTIFIC SOCIETIES Member of the Polish Group of International Law Association (since 1981), and since 2001 Member of the Board of the Group. Member of the Committee of Legal and Economic Sciences, Polish Academy of Science\ Member of the Trans-national Enforcement of Environmental Law, the International Law Association Membership in the Polish Academy of Science “Poland in the United Europe’’ OTHER PUBLIC POSITIONS AND ACHIEVEMENTS Member of the National Council for European Integration Councils, formed by the Prime Minister Leszek Miller Participation in parliamentary meetings of Chairpersons of European Committees (Committees on European Affairs) at national parliaments of the EU countries - COSAC Member of the Reflection Group on the future of the EU, established by the President of the Republic of Poland Organiser of the School of British and European Law for 2 years (in cooperation with the University of Cambridge, since 1994) Organiser and participant of the programme on cooperation between the Faculty of Law and Administration of Silesian University and the Faculty of Law of the University of Leicester (three year long programme financed by the British Council, in years 1997 – 1999). Originator of the participation the law-students - as the only Polish group - in the yearly international competition of legal knowledge at Telder’s Moot Court, the Netherlands Member of the governmental legislative committee, responsible for amendments to the Environmental Protection Law Member of the European Law Faculties Association, Leuven, Belgium Deputy Member of the Court of Conciliation and Arbitration (CSCE)
