Hospitals and its staff are the most significant help for victims of all kinds of disasters. Such day is an opportunity to ponder upon health care infrastructure and investments into it.

We have the pleasure to announce that for the 3rd time in a row Professor Grabowska has been placed in the top 10 of best members of European Parliament. The ranking has been submitted by Institute of Kosciuszko in cooperantion with Jagiellonian University, Economics University and Institute of Political Studies.

06.04.2009 r., Gliwice, Polish Teachers` Association. Professor Grabowska, invited by Mr Jan Zalczyk, the president of PTA has met with the representatives of this association. During that meeting she has spoken of her duties in the European Parliament, its structure and laws. Also, she has answered all questions about polish entrance into the Euro-currency area.

06.04.2009 r., Katowice, 1st International Day of Fighting against Unemployment. Professor Grabowska in her office in Katowice has organised workshops concerning an active searching for a job. She has met with Mrs Barbara Kubica from Staff Service association and Mr Piotr Kucharski from provincial employment agency. During the workshops, participants learned how to present oneself while having interview or how to prepare all needed documents. There was also an expert answering all questions concerning European funds.

01 April 2009, Katowice. An European meeting. In Silesian Library, during the European meeting, the results of the Silesia in the EU Logo Competition were presented. The winner was Mr Dariusz Czernek z Bestwiny, who will be participating in a visit to European Parliament, at Professor Grabowska`s invitation. After the presentation, Professor Grabowska has delivered a lecture about the bad and good sides of Polish membership in the European Union.

01 April 2009, Katowice. Professor Grabowska has met with an artist- Mr Jerzy Przybyła, who after 20 years of absence has returned to Poland. Until he left, he had been close with Katowice. Now, shortly after his come back, he is thinking of a new project- starting a new Miner’s Culture Centre nearby Rybnik. This interesting idea rightly deserves to be supported, also by means of European funds.

30 March 2009, Brussels, The European Debate of Citizens. Professor Grabowska has met with the authors of the European Debate of Citizens project. This project is to gather the representatives of 27 states and enables a discussion between them. This year, the debate concerns issues like economic crisis and deals with the question of future works of the Parliament.

28 March 2009, Katowice. Turn off the light- vote against change of climate. Today, another “hour for the Earth” will take place. This world-wide action is promoting a campaign against change of climate by means of turning off the lights by people all around the world. It aims at drawing our attention to the danger of global warming and its harmful effects.

Professor Grabowska, after being invited by Mrs Maria Nowicka – Skowron, the president of the polytechnics, has been present at the opening of the Youth University. She has congratulated on this interesting idea and delivered a lecture “Polish Youth in the European Union.”

27 March 2009, Dąbrowa Górnicza, 5th Science Festival. Professor Grabowska has met with the students of high schools from the Silesia Region. During that meeting, the results of the 8th Leader School were present. Later, professor Grabowska has delivered a lecture about the advantages and disadvantages of our, Polish membership in the European Union.

It deals not only with our closest neighbours but also with the more distant ones. They have been speaking about the important issue of alimony and its regulations between the states and countries that do not belong the European Union.

During the meeting Professor Grabowska has touched upon issues like British support for the Polish citizens who live in the UK and accepting the Fundamental Rights Card by Poland and UK.

Professor Grabowska, invited by Mr Krzysztof Rut, the president of boar of Mountain Soils Association and by Mrs Edyta Kwapich, the president of the association participated in gala. 20 March 2009, Ruda Śląska, A happening against violence. Professor Grabowska, after being invited by Mrs Teresa Moralewicz, the president of the Centre of Crisis Intervention in Ruda Śląska, has participated in the event. Professor Grabowska has expressed her hope, that violence will be dropped and that all people will say “no” to violence, especially in places like schools.

During the meeting she has presented the briefing of the forthcoming plenary session of The European Parliament; also she has spoken of her report concerning children’s Footwear, its common-to-be standards and requirements. The issue of elections to the European Parliament was touched upon as well.

After receiving an invitation from Mr Piotr Oślizło - the governor of the city and Mr Zenon Przybyła, the president of ZNP in Gorzyce, professor Grabowska has met with the local authorities, representatives of ZNP, the youth and town’s citizens. She has thanked for the co-operation and has spoken of her work in the European Parliament.

18 March 2009, Katowice, An information meeting. In the office of Professor Grabowska another meeting from the “Take the 1st step towards European funds” series was held. This time, the meeting focused on the way of gaining funds for the development of kindergartens. The representatives of kindergartens from all over the region were present and shown how the procedure functions.
